In short: Wordbar knows almost nothing about you. Your words, sets and progress are stored only on your Mac.

Data that stays on your Mac

Your word sets, the words you add, quiz results and review history are kept in the app's folder on your Mac. This data is never sent to any server.

License validation

When you activate your license, and occasionally afterwards, your license key and an anonymous device identifier derived from your Mac are sent to our payment provider Polar. The device identifier is an irreversible hash and does not identify you. It is used only to check how many Macs a license is active on.

Updates

Once a day, Wordbar checks the update feed on wordbar.app for a new version. This request may include standard information such as the app version and macOS version. No personal data is sent.

Payments

Payments are processed by Polar as the Merchant of Record. Your card details never reach us. The email address you enter at checkout is used to send your license key and to provide support. See the Polar privacy policy for details.
